Reclaiming History with Science Friday

April 3, 2019

If we want someone from the present to be remembered in the future, we get their story down now.

Elah Feder

In this live episode of Undiscovered from Science Friday, hosts Annie Minoff and Elah Feder present the unexpected story of Jeanne Baret, the 18th century botanist who disguised herself as a man to travel the world in search of new plant species. The story they crafted is both about Baret, potentially the first woman to circumnavigate the globe, and about the challenges of reporting stories about women who have been erased from history.
